FROM THE ORGAN CONSULTANT...

"For centuries, the organ has served the church: It is the liturgy of the church that largely has inspired the art of organ building.  One may argue that the organ should be first and foremost a practical, flexible musical instrument, but in its highest form it should make an artistic statement.  It should inspire not only those who worship and listen to its musical message but also those of us who play the organ and have the privilege of practicing the art of organ building toward an ever-growing creativity.

The Organ in Mansfield First United Methodist Church is one of a kind, built especially for the congregation.  But also it is a new kind of instrument--one which I, who have been immersed in the creation of several hundred pipe organs since 1971, could not have envisioned as being musically viable even a decade ago.  Its musical voice represents a seamless merger of the art of pipe organ building and the flexibility and the practical application of digitally sampled sound through the state-of-the-art computer technology.  May its many voices serve to inspire and to uplift the worship of this congregation for decades hence."
